Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are your opening hours?

Our shop is open daily from 9.15 am – 5.30 pm Monday to Saturday. Seasonal updates are available on our contact page.

  • What Covid health precautions do Faller have in place?

While our shop will remain closed during this current period of lockdown, when the shop reopens in April 2021 these health precautions will remain in place.

Ensuring the health of our customers and staff is our first priority. To enable this we have a range of Coronavirus safety measures in place in our retail outlet in Derry/ Londonderry.

    • All Faller staff will check their temperature every day when they arrive and follow strict regular daily cleaning and hygiene practices in our shop & workshop, wearing masks where appropriate.
    • We’ll be limiting the number of customers in our shop at any one time.
    • We have fitted large transparent screens on all our counters so that our customers can safely view our jewellery and interact with our staff.
    • We have hand sanitizing stations situated on the counters for client use.
    • We will be individually cleaning our jewellery and card reader pin-pads in between every consultation with an ultraviolet light sanitizer, which uses a flash of UV light to eliminate virtually all germs.
    • All jewellery prepared for collection or posting is handled with gloves and sanitized with an ultraviolet light sanitizer.

We rely on the co-operation and support of shoppers to minimize the risk of spreading infection. To help us keep our store safe, please:

    1. Don’t visit if you have a fever or any other Coronavirus symptoms.
    2. Use the hand sanitizing station on entering the store.
    3. Always stay the recommended distance apart.
    4. Avoid using cash as a payment method where possible.

Please shop alone where possible, or visit us in a party of three or less. The government have asked that where possible, shopping should be done alone so if you can visit us on your own, please do so. However, we know this may not always be possible, especially when traveling with children.

    Delivery During Covid

Please be aware that there may be potential delays to delivery during this Covid crisis. We thank you for your patience during this challenging time.

Royal Mail has made some changes to how they hand over both Special Delivery & Signed-For items in order to minimise contact during the delivery process. They will not be handing over our hand-held devices to customers to capture signatures but instead log the name of the person accepting the item.

  • How long does it take to make a wedding band?

Simple bands can be same day/ next day but depending upon the complexity of the design, we allow 2-4 weeks from the day of ordering.  All work is done here at our workshop.

  • Can I speak directly to the person who will design and make my jewellery?

Yes, please call in and our staff will be on-hand to answer any questions, offer ideas and consult with you.

  • Is my jewellery insured when it is with you?

Yes, our specialist policy ensures that all jewellery will be fully covered and secured.

  • Can you tell me the value of my jewellery?

All our engagement rings are supplied with an evaluation free of charge. For other Faller items our valuation charges vary depending on the piece being assessed.  Please contact us for further information.

  • Can you engrave my ring?

With any purchase of wedding rings we offer a complimentary inside ring engraving service. (Free for inscriptions under 30 characters). More details are available on our wedding ring page. A variety of our jewellery can also be engraved and engraving charges will be listed with each piece. Please contact us if you have any further queries.

  • How do I know my ring size?

If you can’t call to our shop visiting a local jewellery store and have your finger size measured will give you a fairly accurate idea. There is sometimes one or two finger sizes variance between different stores due to slight differences in measuring equipment and methods.  The width of the ring and how curved the inside surface is will also affect size accuracy.

A wider ring requires a bigger finger size than a narrower ring.  A comfort fit ring with a curved inside surface goes on easier so can be half a size smaller than a flatter profiled ring.  Ideally call to Faller’s in person for the most accurate size. We can re-size most of our rings in our on-site workshop but please comfirm finger size in advance if you require one custom made.

  • How long does it take to have my ring sized and how much does it cost?

Your Faller ring can normally be sized on the same day it is purchased. This initial sizing is complimentary but any resizing from then on will incur a charge.  Prices start at £20.00* and will depend on the metal, the scale of adjustment needed and the complexity of the design. Bring your Faller ring to our shop for a free inspection and quote.  *Prices correct for 2021

  • How often should I get my ring re-polished?

How often rings will need to be re-polished will depend on the wearer and the work they do.  As a general rule it is advisable to have rings checked by a professional every couple of years or so. Your Faller rings will be checked for signs of wear or damage and to ensure that the stones are still secure and then cleaned and polished.  Charges for re-polishing start from £8.

  • How long does it take to make an engagement ring?

Normally we take 4-6 weeks from agreeing the design,  to collection. We stock many designs here in our shop for you to try.

  • Do you repair jewellery?

We are happy to carry out repairs and maintenance on any piece of Faller jewellery bought from us. Charges start from £10 per item but will vary depending on the nature of the repair and will be quoted for on an individual basis, before any work is carried out. cIt takes 7 working days for most general repairs.  We endeavour to keep our charges as competitive as possible.  Some items of jewellery can be damaged or worn beyond repair.  Where the repair costs would outweigh the value of the item, our staff can advise on other options when this is the case.  We are not currently undertaking repairs on items bought elsewhere.

  • Can you cut off my ring if it gets stuck?

Of course, we offer this service free of charge.

  • Can you use my ring to make a new one?

It may be possible to restyle your existing Faller jewellery. This is a service in which diamonds and natural gemstones already belonging to you and in some cases the metal too, can be re-modeled into a new contemporary piece of jewellery.  We are not currently undertaking restyles on items bought elsewhere.
