Description
Two pieces of brown fabric from the blessed habit of a monk of the Carmelite Order are encased in engraved sterling silver frames and suspended on sterling silver cable chains. The shorter chain with the frame attached is 45cm long. The longer chain with frame is 54mm long. The chains are linked together at the catch.
The frames are engraved with the symbols of the miraculous medal, a design based on mystical visions of St. Catherine Labouré in the 19th century. The Scapular is a sign of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, placing oneself under her mantle of protection. The lower silver frame is engraved on the back, “Whoever dies wearing this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire – The scapular promise from our lady of Mount Carmel”
