Thirty-fifth Wedding Anniversary

35th Anniversary Gifts: Emerald, Coral or Jade

So many wonderful memories have accumulated in over a third of a century of love, friendship, and unity. Many couples will have grown-up children, and possibly even grandchildren to share in the celebration of this significant anniversary. Emerald, Coral and Jade are all associated with the thirty-fifth wedding anniversary.

Emerald gemstone, green gem

Emerald

From pharaohs to Inca kings, emeralds have enchanted royalty. The legendary Crown of the Andes is one example of how the Spanish revered the gem, while the story of the Spanish galleon, the Nuestra Señora de Atocha, shows the length generations of treasure hunters went to discover its sunken loot. With such a colourful history, emeralds are a wonderful gift for your spouse on your 35th wedding anniversary.

Coral

Coral symbolizes protection, fertility, strength, and longevity. Coral is an organic material that is found in tropical seas. It takes years to grow and develop and offers a home and protection to over 25% of the world’s ocean life. Coral is extremely sensitive to changes in water temperature and acidity and the threats to coral from global warming and pollution are increasing. For this reason Faller will not be making any more coral jewellery. Rather than encouraging coral harvesting is may be better to choose coral coloured gems such as carnelian to represent this anniversary.

Jade

Like Coral, Jade symbolizes the same things: protection, strength, and longevity. The term “jade” applies to two different minerals: nephrite and jadeite. Both types of jade are strong stones, which take a high polish. Most associate Jade with the colour green but Jadeite can occur in blue, red, black, lavender, white, and dark green. Jade is revered in many cultures around the world including the Mayans, the Maori of New Zealand, and, most notably, the Chinese.
